The Squirrel Pod opens up a new market of modular battery storage with or without a solar system. Each Squirrel Pod will create 3.5kWh of charge or discharge capacity, so adding a second pod creates max 7kw. Each Pod can have 1-8 batteries attached, in fact using the Uhome you can have a single stack of batteries with two or more controllers. The Squirrel Pod utilises variable cheap Green tariffs set by Octopus Energy which you can use to fill your batteries and use this energy to power your home when tariffs are high and without installing Solar.

For those with Solar Panels, Lux Power has now introduced “Price Point Charging”. During the months of strong solar generation you may not feel you need fixed charging periods, so you can simply choose a price where you consider the electricity so cheap that you are happy to charge your batteries. The Lux Price charge will simply if the electricity prices are on or below your selected price.

For example we can set the “Price Point Charging” to £0.05. Octopus Energy release tomorrows energy price today, the Lux now knows exactly what every Half-Hourly charge periods are going to be for that day. When the tariff drops below our £0.05 “Price Point Charge” setting the Lux will automatically charge the batteries, when the tariff goes above our pre-set “Price Point Charge” the Lux will stop charging to ensure the customer never charges their batteries on higher price tariffs.

Up to now battery storage has been an incredible technology allowing customers to benefit from Max charge and discharge rates up to 3.5Kw depending on how many batteries they use. As we move to a greener future it is possible that renewable electricity will be the dominant power source. Lux Power systems allow future expansion by adding batteries or even controllers to create a larger ability to charge and discharge bigger loads.

Lux Power has now designed a new AC Parallel controller which allows you to expand your system by adding multiple controllers together. Each controller is capable of adding an additional 3.5kw of charge/discharge capacity. Using two controllers you can now Fast Charge or increase discharge rates up to 7.0Kw – That’s 2.0Kw more than Tesla! Two controllers can be either connected to a single stack of batteries via a combiner box or you can use two separate bank of batteries connected to each controller.

With this unique feature we have now created the “Squirrel Pod” battery storage system. With its capability of high charge and discharge rates and automatic Agile charging we have now created a concept that doesn’t require Solar.

The Lux Power Squirrel Pod can automatically detect the cheapest half-hourly Agile tariffs set by Octopus Energy and charge the batteries without any manual/daily programming. Energy providers like Octopus Energy offer cheap Off Peak tariffs between 00:00am to 8:00am & 12:00pm to 4:00pm. By simply selecting how many half-hourly charge periods you want within these time slots the Lux will do the rest and hunt out the cheapest of the cheapest tariff rates and charge the batteries.

With a Single Controller system the maximum energy you can use at any one given time is 3.6KwH

These systems are ideal for people who use less then 40Kw of energy Per day with 3.6Kw or less peak demand.

Dual Controller System

With a dual controller system the maximum energy you can use at any one given time is 7.2KwH

These systems are ideal for people who use between 40Kw and 80Kw of energy Per day with 7.2Kw or less peak demand.

Three Controller System

With a Three Controller system the maximum energy you can use at any one given time is 10.8KwH

These systems are ideal for people who use between 80Kw to 100Kw of energy Per day with 10.8Kw or less peak demand.
